Located at 7401 Highway 45, 20 minutes south of downtown Austin, Grey Rock Golf Club—formerly Circle C Golf Club—offers one of the capital area's best public rounds. Designed by Jay Morrish, this 18-hole par-72 course measures 6,859 yards from the back tees, with a 122 slope and a 72.7 rating, and features four sets of tees from 5,215 to 6,909 yards. The mostly flat, wide-open layout is framed by live oak-lined fairways, with water coming into play on several holes and greens that reward thoughtful shot-making with plenty of undulation. The front nine is straightforward, while the back nine reveals more doglegs, including the 512-yard 11th double dogleg par-5 and the nearly 600-yard 14th. The closing stretch tests accuracy with water in play on the final three holes, including a 200-yard par-3 17th from the back tees. Grey Rock is semi-private and also houses a tennis club. Practice facilities include Open Range with TrackMan feedback and course simulations, an academy, and a shop. After a round, relax at Grey Rock Grill or the Biergarten.
